katehughesart:

I was thinking about what kind of villains could exist in the babies!AUs before I got this prompt - once I got the sets of pairings, these two started forming themselves quite quickly!

Each of these girls comes from an alternate Trouser-leg of Time to the main Discworld, the main difference being some characters’ genders are swapped in each of their AUs - this causes the events of each book to happen differently, in different timeframes.

Strictly speaking, they have the same parents… sort of.

1. Charlotte/Teatime
  • Name: Clover (technically her last name is Teatime but for all intents and purposes she doesn’t have a last name.)
  • Gender: Female
  • Personal Head canon: (moving this up here) In this AU, Clover’s parents met when her father was a student at the Assassins’ Guild, where his mother worked as a cook. The two quickly became close and eventually married, with Teatime helping set up Charlotte’s pie-making business. Clover’s father was killed in a work-related accident when she was a baby (at least that’s what the Guild told them). Everything was fine until a few years later, when some policemen turned up at the pie shop and took Charlotte away (she escaped custody that night then mysteriously disappeared in a thunderstorm). Clover was placed in the care of an aunt (a nun) on her mother’s side but things didn’t really work out and Clover, finding herself with no family, eventually ended up as a street urchin in Ankh Morpork.
  • General Appearance: (see sketch) Age 14. Clover is short and skinny with dirty-blonde/mousey-brown scruffy hair and a fringe that always falls over her eyes. Her eyes are usually hidden behind hair, so no one can tell what colour they are (people wonder how she can see with so much hair in her face). She has a rough-and-ready appearance - she always wears thick socks with old leather boots, and an old brown (original colour unknown) baker-boy hat.
  • Personality: If Clover were to be described in one word it would be “feral” - she is wild, unpredictable and very quick. She runs with a gang of street kids, filling much the same role as Willikins did in his youth (ie: the completely mental fighter). She is outgoing and loves to joke, although many of her gang are a wee bit frightened of her. She loves shiny things and collects broken shards of glass and mirrors which she builds into throwing knives. She is very quick-witted, although outside of fighting she seems to live in a world of her own and is prone to sudden changes of mood. She is also quite stubborn and difficult to control, because of this the rest of the gang don’t really know what to make of her.
  • Special Talents: agility, excellent aim, very good eyesight, climbing skills.
  • Who they like better: She doesn’t remember much about her parents or life before ending up on the streets.
  • Who they take after more: Probably her father based purely on sanity, though she has her mother’s ability to blend into crowds very well.

2. Johanna/Carcer
  • Name: Tisiphone “Sissi” Eurydice Dun
  • Gender: Female
  • Personal Head canon: (moving this up here) Sissi’s parents met at a bar (of sorts) when Johanna was looking for helping hands for one of her commissions. Carcer singled out the out-of-place-looking rich young lady and turned on his charm, and Johanna was intrigued by the handsome stranger who wanted to befriend her. Neither of them really knew what they were getting into, but soon bonded over their shared interests, married, moved into the big fancy house Johanna had inherited, and had Sissi. Johanna died around Hogswatch when Sissi was still a toddler, so she was mainly raised by her father (they had a good deal of money from the settlement the Guild sent upon Johanna’s death so lived quite comfortably), until he was executed when she was twelve, and Sissi was moved to boarding school.
  • General Appearance: (see sketch) Sissi has shoulder-length wavy blonde hair and brown eyes. She likes to look pretty, favouring pastel dresses with bows and lace with white stockings.
  • Personality: Sissi is a very determined young lady and has very strong convictions: she has sworn revenge on Samuel Vimes, whom she believes framed her father for crimes he didn’t commit and had him executed. While she usually isn’t gullible (being very skeptical and untrusting of the world around her), her one massive blind spot was her father, whom she saw as a sort of hero and believed anything he told her. Needless to say, this has made her view of the world is quite warped. Besides this, while she believes herself to be perfectly rational and simply more sharp-witted than most, she’s got a touch of her mother’s… just seeing things differently to most people (although she does have more empathy). She has a strong sense that justice must be served and sees Vimes as the villain of the piece - she feels sorry for his poor son, Young Sam (who is around her own age), who does not seem to realise this.
  • Special Talents: People like Sissi and tend to believe what she says, which is a bit dangerous - she doesn’t manipulate people, but has a habit of misinterpreting situations and then trying to get help to sort out what she feels are injustices. She just smiles and people instinctively trust her, she feels this is only natural as she’s the heroine of this story. She did very well at school, especially in fencing, and loved to research mythology. Her teachers described her as very creative, if a bit over-imaginative.
  • Who they like better: Sissi has vague memories her mother playing dolls with her, smiling a lot, smelling of lilacs and blonde hair (Sissi has kept her mother’s dresses and sometimes wears them when she feels lonely)  Most of what she actually knows about her mother came second-hand through stories her father told her: saying Sissi was her “her pride and joy”, “she was a great mum, just a bit daft”  and “she loved you a lot, thoughshe didn’t be well sometimes”. Sissi adored her father, Carcer loved having a captive audience and so she got the full force of his natural talent for spinning stories. She believed every word of it and saw him as a poor, persecuted innocent trying to make an honest living in a cruel world.
  • Who they take after more: Difficult to say, she has Johanna’s unwavering belief that she’s doing nothing wrong (Carcer knew what he was doing) but she’s not as  childish or excitable, appearing more ‘normal’ for the most part. She thinks she takes after her mother (though she thinks her mother was just a sweet, proper Victorian lady)

These headcanons are too much fun, they are getting out of control!

these girls are the best

Especially Sissi…I would totally read a fic about Sissi.

katehughesart:

Finally got to do this one!

I have actually had this character in my mind for ages,  because I always thought it would be funny if Vetinari had a secret son he doesn’t know about, who is a mime.
(Look, I don’t know okay, sometimes I just get these ideas into my head.)
He can pretty much fit into the real Discworld timeline or any of the headcanon babies AUs because he’s pretty far removed from the other stories.
  • Name: Vincenzo Meserole
  • Gender: Male
  • General Appearance: (see sketch) Tall and thin, with pale skin, black hair and very dark brown/black eyes, giving him a monochrome appearance. Rarely smiles.
  • Personality:  Spending his formative years as a young, idealistic mime on the mean streets of Genua has taught Vincenzo not to show weakness - people seem to respond well to an air of superiority and arrogance. He has adopted a persona where he seems bored by life and treats people as little more than annoyances.  That said, he is a gifted performance artist, with an almost supernatural gift for entrancing an audience - when working he is truly content and all is right with the world. He was raised by his great-aunt Roberta and was told nothing of the rest of his family for… reasons. He is aware that he is not entirely human but doesn’t know the particulars, driving him to seek answers .While he considers mummery (mime artistry) his true calling, he moonlights as a paranormal bounty-hunter (think along the lines of Dante from Devil May Cry, but a mime I guess), using his heightened tracking senses to sniff out paranormal criminals. He keeps this business secret from his great-aunt, as he doesn’t want to worry her.

He never speaks - ever. No one (well, except his aunt) really knows whether he can’t speak or just chooses not to.

  • Special Talents: Heightened perception, stealth (can blend easily into the background or even foreground), also extreme mime skills. And I dunno if it’s a talent, but he burns really easily in sunlight, and can convey his emotions really well through scrunching up his face and giving people death-glares.
  • Who they like better: He doesn’t know his parents, but Lady Margolotta often visits Lady Meserole (presumably, he thinks, to talk about Political Lady things) and she always seems terribly interested in what Vincenzo is doing, which he finds odd but takes as a compliment. He’s a bit wary around her as she’s a vampire and has hinted on more than one occasion that she knows what he gets up to at night, but she seems cool with it and always feigns ignorance in front of his great-aunt, so he’s not really sure what she’s playing at.
Given that his father hates mimes, they probably would not see eye-to-eye if they met, which is funny since otherwise they are quite similar.
  • Who they take after more: He’s very much like the young Havelock in Night Watch in regards to his work, though he doesn’t show much interest in politics or manipulating people long-term. He hasn’t quite mastered his mother’s affability and ability to look harmless (though no one really knows what Margolotta is really like, and Vetinari is very guarded himself, so it’s difficult to tell who he really takes after more)
  • Personal Head canon: Margolotta knows he exists but Vetinari doesn’t, he’s being kept secret for a variety of reasons (mainly for his own safety, if Vetinari’s enemies knew he had a son then Vincenzo would be dodging assassination attempts on the hour every hour).

Look, I got a bit carried away and I- I don’t even know anymore.

Truly I am the master of romance.

As you can see, my understanding of the novel Snuff is stellar.

(I drew these guys based on TMOH’s versions of them - yeah, they’re not mystery solving teens in the book or her continuity, but… uh, artistic licence?)
